Xi Xi began studying at The Grantham Training College, which is now part of The Education University of Hong Kong.

In 1957, Xi Xi entered The Grantham College of Education. After graduation, she taught in government primary schools, mostly at the Farm Road Government Elementary School. In the 1970s, she actively participated in the campaign for the rights of teachers.
